The structure of the K3-Tent system is a modular that allows to complete each working place separately, depending on its purpose.

The structure of the K3-Tent system:

  • Geometrical 3D editor К3 - the geometry core of the system;
  • Form-finding Modulus – the module for 3D tent model design. Provides the model form-finding and visualization;
  • Staging Modulus – the module for tracing mark and cutting lines on the tent surface. It forms patches and unfolds them;
 

3D Geometry Editor K3

This module is the basis of K3 system and is intended for creation, storage and maintenance of a 3D model. In medias res K3 is a complete system of geometrical 3D solid modeling which is able to meet demands of various branches of industry. K3 system uses a set of linear and solid objects as standard basic elements for modeling. All objects are situated in 3D space. Linear objects consist of point, line, circular arc, circle, spline and contour. The contour can be non-planar. A set of basic solid elements consists of parallelepiped, cylinder, cone, sphere, tore, prism, pyramid, ellipsoid and spherical zone.

Forming, Boolean and other system operations are used for complex modeling. One of the powerful and convenient ways of the complex spatial objects design is usage of forming operations on basic elements. For instance, creating bodies of revolution, extrusion, helical surfaces, surfaces blended on arbitrary non-planar sections, kinematic surfaces formed by moving generatrix along directrix, Coons patches, ruled surfaces and stitching surfaces. Other efficient tools for spatial complex objects creation are Boolean operations. Any 3D objects are subject to the following operations:

  • objects Boolean addition;
  • objects Boolean subtraction;
  • objects Boolean intersection.

One can get a set of mechanical properties in K3 system by clicking only one command and specifying the object or a group of objects. Such properties consist of volume calculation, measuring surface area, mass, weight, inertia moments etc. The visual model appearance is not only the feature that renders a complete object idea. There is a lot of information related to natural objects that cannot be rendered in visual forms and has no geometry characteristics. For example, price, identification number, production date etc. To completely represent the model as an object of the real world the system provides a possibility to assign non-geometrical information to objects. Such information is presented in the form of attributes – numbers, texts. The user can specify the number of necessary attributes, then can assign names and types to them. The attributes can be reassigned and modified further if necessary. K3 system provides transfer of data related to the object to various databases via ADO interface. For instance, due to this option it is very easy to get specification for equipment set indoors. K3 has not only its own format of data storage. An advanced subsystem of data import/export allows exchanging geometrical information with other widely used systems. File formats include such formats of data storage as DXF, FRG, HPGL, and STL.

Form-finding Modulus

It is supposed for creating a dimensioned tent model.

The module is intended for finding the form of the tensile fabric structure surface. It is provided with the tools and options to specify spatial geometry data of a tent, to apply constrains and to define boundary conditions. On the basis of input data the module finds the fabric surface in the form of pseudo-minimum surface automatically. The module sufficiently simplifies and accelerates the tent surface form-finding and helps to analyse a lot of form variants quickly and properly.

Staging Modulus

It is supposed for accomplishing engineering works connected with manufacturing a tent.

The Staging Modulus is oriented to accomplish engineering support of tent structure manufacturing. It provides a Designer with a number of technological tools, namely: drawing down mark and cutting lines onto the surface; cutting the surface into patches; defining area and length of patch edges; forming an unfolded plane pattern; exporting data to outer systems in graphics and other formats.
